| Glenuig
is a remote community on the beautiful shores of Loch Ailort, in Moidart,
on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands. Our nearest shopping centre
is Fort William, some 40 miles to the east.

There has been a shop and sub-post office at Glenuig for many years, and
this has long provided a service to the community, not only as a place
to buy essential goods, but as a social hub for folk from miles around.
Currently open seven days a week and staffed by a dedicated group of volunteers,
the shop serves not only the local population but an increasing number
of tourists with day-to-day essentials, and a Post Office on Tuesdays
and Thursdays.
Despite the impression given by state-of-the-art
Post Office satellite communications system standing outside it, the existing
shop building is old and needs replacing.
The Glenuig Community Shop Steering Group has
been set up, with the help of various agencies, to produce the plans and
raise the funds for a modern replacement for the shop, which will be run
as a community venture.
On this website you can find details of our plans for the shop, as well
as the latest newsletter and contact details.
